Aliyah Success Story – Tips for Olim and Anglos from Josh Cohen

Written by Lara Itzhaki

Welcome to Josh Cohen and Tamar Cohen and their 4 children who made Aliyah from the UK to Modiin.

I remember all the calls Tamar and I had before the planned Aliyah. As the time got closer, things got more stressful. That is the norm for Aliyah.

I met the Cohens for the first time at Misrad Hapnim, where we all waited patiently and then less patiently as time went by, to get their Teudat Zehut and go through the official Aliyah processing.

Little did the family know that their Aliyah would have more hiccups than the usual.

Issues with the bank, Misrad Hapnim ,Misrad Haklita as well as unexpected health complications did not deter this family from keeping their chin up and their positive attitude in tact.

Josh left his locksmith business overseas and is now building the business in Israel, with honesty, integrity and a wealth of experience. It’s not easy to leave something that took years to build and then to start from scratch. But Josh is doing it, in his own steady way.

It’s always amazing for me to be a bystander watching Olim deal with their challenges – each person in their own unique way. This family is a reminder to me to be thankful for what we have and not to get down when things get tough.

I wish the whole family hatzlacha raba. If you’d like to get in touch with Josh, reach out to him at 058-538-4441 or joshthelocksmith@hotmail.com
